Class Audit Methodology
Winnowl Standard Specs (Calculated)
(Usable Energy Capacity (Wh) / 560) * 60
Brand runtime estimates are frequently measured in paper-thin grass under minimal load. Because push mowers rely on human propulsion, power consumption is concentrated entirely on blade torque. Winnowl standardizes push mower runtime against a constant 450-Watt deck load, establishing a realistic benchmark for cutting medium-density turf.
Battery Voltage (V) * Total Capacity (Ah) * 0.90
Total battery energy is determined by multiplying Voltage (electrical pressure) by Amp-Hours (fuel capacity). Because push mowers route 100% of their energy to the cutting deck without powering drive wheels, energy losses are limited to blade resistance, thermal overhead, and circuit safety limits. We apply a flat 10% derating factor to calculate true usable deck power.
Manufacturer Stated Specs
Stated runtime receives zero weight because manufacturer tests reflect idealized bench conditions—often spinning the blade in open air with zero cutting resistance. Because push mowers rely on human pushing force, power draw is concentrated entirely on the blade.
Single battery capacity gets zero weight because it is already captured in our Usable Energy Capacity model. Scoring individual pack size separately would artificially penalize mowers that use two smaller batteries in tandem to deliver the exact same energy capacity.
Total amp-hour capacity is excluded from direct weighting to prevent double-counting. Raw amp-hours are already combined with pack voltage to calculate Usable Energy Capacity, which measures true work capacity far more accurately than total amp-hours alone.
